What to Check Before Installing the Dash Cam
Four quick checks before you begin: the windshield, the vehicle's warning lights, the diagnostic port, and writing down the device details.
Check the windshield
Inspect the windshield for cracks or chips before mounting the camera.
Check the vehicle
Turn on the vehicle and confirm that no Malfunction Indicator Lights (MILs), error codes, or warnings are present on any display.
Check the diagnostic port
For OBD-II connections, confirm that no other third-party devices are connected to the OBD-II port.
Record the device details
Write down the Gateway IMEI and the vehicle name. The IMEI is what registers the device to your account, and you will need it if the device does not appear in the portal later. See the troubleshooting steps.
